The Technologies

Wide-format copiers, scanners, printers and high-volume production equipment use five basic technologies to accomplish their tasks.

1. Xerographic Copying: As in a traditional office copier, this mature technology uses a light-sensitive drum to reproduce an analog toner image on the paper. Provides great image quality and economical reproduction.

2. Digital Xerographic Printing: Evolved from traditional xerographics, digital xerographics adds computer control and image enhancement, permitting multiple, collated sets, excellent image quality, high speed, and economy.

3. Inkjet Printing: This is not your desktop inkjet printer! HP has advanced the speed and quality of wide-format inkjet technology to achieve superb, full-color photographic quality and the largest print area of any wide-format technology.

4. Direct Thermal Printing: Developed from thermal fax technology, Varitronics has combined economy, speed, simplicity, and presentation-quality papers into desktop poster printers that produce vivid, monochromatic color posters from paper originals or your PC.

5. Digital Scanning: Scanning uses a light sensitive pixel array to capture and digitize monochrome and color images to file. Advanced image processing allows for high-speed, automatic image enhancement, interpretation and clean-up, all in real-time during the image capture phase.
